Murphy may have ended August with an 0-fer, but he had a huge month!
In addition to his regularly scheduled offensive feats, and his 500th career RBI (on a solo homer on 8/26), Daniel Murphy hit his first career grand slam on 8/24! Such a milestone required a bonus donation. Thanks to everyone who voted!
crowd sourcing this one! how much should the bonus be for murphy’s first career grand slam??

Many thanks again to Laura (@shirhallelujah) who took over the live tweeting and spreadsheet management while I was off cruising in the Caribbean. In those 7 games, Murphy raised $10.48! (Check out her Resting Pitchface podcast!)
The Wanda Alston Foundation is dedicated to ensuring that LGBTQ youth have access to services that improve their overall quality of life. This is achieved through advocacy and programming. The Wanda Alston Foundation advocates for increased resources for youth while providing programs including: housing, life skills training, linkages to other social services, and capacity building assistance for other community allies.
The Wanda Alston Foundation opened its doors in 2008 as the only housing program in Washington, DC solely dedicated to offering pre-independent transitional living and support services to homeless or at-risk LGBTQ youth ages 16 to 24 in all eight wards.
Earlier this year, the Washington Post reported that nearly half of homeless youth in DC identify as LGBTQ. Thank you so much to everyone who is matching my donations, or making donations of any amount! If you’d like to contribute something other than this month’s $46.03, the Wanda Alston Foundation has a wish list posted here.
(Just a reminder: my spreadsheet is now located here, and is updated live.)
One last note: the last game of the regular season for the Nats is October 2. October 1 and 2 will be included in September’s donation, to The DC Center.
